News: PSX Scene - Disaster Strikes

Regular visitors, such as myself, of www.psx-scene.com may of noticed the message regarding the MySQL database's being completely removed.

Here is the quoted message from their website:

"The site's SQL database has mysteriously been emptied of it's entire contents. Even a duplicate backup database is suddenly missing it's data. We are not sure if this was a case of corrupt MySQL or if we were hacked. Regardless, all of the data in PSX-SCENE's six year existence is now lost. Words cannot describe what we are feeling right now. "

"We are working hard to get the site back on-line as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, we will be starting with an almost entirely clean slate. We should be able to recover the user data but that's about it.

We appreciate everything you, our users, have done over the last six years. We hope this site is as important to you as it is to us. We will not give up! Our plan is to re-open the site in the next day or so but, unfortunately, you will be looking at a mostly empty forum where one of the greatest resources for console hacking information on the internet once stood. It is our sincere hope that, once the site is re-opened, you will continue to visit and help re-build PSX-SCENE & WiiNewz to their former glory.

- PSX-SCENE / WiiNewz Staff
"

This is not good news at all. It seems they have lost everything. As mentioned in the quoted text - this is 6 years of work, news, messages and forum posts. Whether this is just bad luck or a hack we will not know until PSX Scene post more information.

The last time anything strange happened to PSX-Scene was in November last year. All the forum attachments had disappeared but luckily this was rectified and the website came back up after less than one day of downtime. At the time this happened it was also speculated this could of been hackers, although I do not believe this was found to be the case. This time however, it looks much more serious for this amazing website.

We hope a speedy recovery for PSX-Scene, good luck getting everything back up and running guys!
